Although a few filters have been distributed to Kunuwar village, none have been checked or maintained
regularly by the owners. This family's filter was broken. When measured, arsenic levels were
200 parts per billion (ppb). The regional standard for an acceptable level of arsenic is 50 ppb.
The WHO and US standard is 10 ppb. Guests at this wedding were unaware they were drinking highly
contaminated water.
